Purpose

The Program in Continuing Medical Education is a major component of the educational programs at The MetroHealth System. The purpose of The MetroHealth System CME Program is to provide a variety of high quality educational activities that will support, facilitate, expand the knowledge of developments and research, as well as keep our staff up-to-date on medical standards and technical advances in patient care and biomedical research. This will aid physicians in providing and improving the quality of patient care and medical outcomes throughout The MetroHealth System and the community we serve.

Content Area

The MetroHealth System and our affiliation with Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine allow us to plan and hold CME activities that encompass all aspects of patient care from the fetus to the geriatric patient. The CME Program addresses clinical, research, professionalism and institutional educational needs to our physicians. The educational content includes evidence based medicine and scientific research both internal and externally.

Target Audience

Our primary audience is The MetroHealth System employed physicians, adjunct and affiliate staff. Any party interested in an activity is welcome to attend. Secondary audience includes allied health professionals, fellows, residents, and community healthcare providers throughout Ohio and surrounding states.

Activities Provided

Activities sponsored by The MetroHealth System will include but are not limited to grand rounds, conferences, symposia, morbidity & mortality reviews, workshops, hospital requirements and initiatives. MetroHealth jointly sponsors activities with professional organizations and institutions. The means of presentations include but are not limited to lectures, case presentations and breakout sessions.

Expected Results

  1. To strictly adhere to the Essential Areas established by The Ohio State Medical Association (OSMA)
  2. To increase attendance at activities
  3. To measure improvement of the quality of patient care provided by our physicians
  4. To review and report needs assessments to appropriate CME personnel
